In meiner künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung beschäftige ich mich mit Geschichten und Ästhetiken, die der alltagskulturellen Sphäre zugewandt sind. Verwendete Ausdrucksformen sind hierbei Performance, Video, Skulptur und graphische Arbeiten, die ich zum Teil einzeln ausarbeite und vorstelle oder kollektiv in Gruppenzusammenhängen mit z.B. befreundeten KünstlerInnen und TheoretikerInnen entwickle und produziere.
Dabei sehe ich die zu transformierenden Alltagsbeobachtungen eng verwoben in komplexe, soziale und politische Machtzusammenhänge, die es sichtbar zu machen gilt, um diese anschliessend in einer anderen Perspektive betrachten zu können und so verschiebbar zu machen.
Die Themen dieser Auseinandersetzung sind zum großen Teil inspiriert von literarischen und theoretischen Vorlagen. In dem Videofilm „Bartleby“ (Video, 24 min.,1996 in Zusammenarbeit mit Stephan Geene) zum Beispiel, wird die Geschichte „Bartleby, der Schreiber“ von Herman Melville neu adaptiert und in den Büroalltag einer Graphikdesignfirma mit zeitgenössischer, neo-liberaler Prägung (flache Hierarchien, fliessende Arbeitszeiten, flexibles Anstellungsverhältnis, teamwork-orientiertes Arbeiten etc...) verlegt und neu interpretiert.
In plastischen Arbeiten wie zum Beispiel der Pflanzendarstellung: „Dem Kirschbaum ähnlicher Essigbaumast“, (Bronze 2003) werden Alltagsbeobachtungen umgedeutet und in neue Sinnzusammenhänge gestellt. Essigbäume sind Pionierpflanzen, die sich besonders schnell an urbanen Lücken (z.B. aufgegebene Bauprojekte etc.) ausbreiten. Die Materialwahl und die Behauptung der Ähnlichkeit dieses Essigbaumastes zu einem Kirschbaumast, der ja bekanntlicherweise in hochkulturellen Kreisen große Anerkennung findet, lässt diese meiner Meinung nach äußerst interessante Pflanze, in einer neuen Perspektive erscheinen. -- Um hier nur zwei exemplarische Arbeiten zu beschreiben, anhand derer ich die oben geschriebenen Koordinaten meiner, bzw. unserer Auseinandersetzung zu verdeutlichen hoffe.

In my artistic investigations I deal with stories and aesthetics oriented to the sphere of everyday culture. The forms of expression I use in this are performance, video, sculpture and graphic works, which I partly develop and present individually or collectively in group contexts with artists and theoretician friends, for example.
As I see it, the everyday observations that are to be transformed are closely interwoven in complex, social and political power contexts, which are to be made visible, so that they can subsequently be viewed from a different perspective and thus shifted.
The themes of these investigations are partly inspired by literary and theoretical models. In the video film Bartleby (video, 24 min., 1996 in collaboration with Stephan Geene), for example, the story of Bartleby, the Scrivener by Herman Melville is newly adapted and transferred to the everyday office world of a graphics design company with a contemporary, neoliberal character (flat hierarchies, flowing working hours, flexible employment, teamwork orientation, etc.) and re-interpreted.
In plastic works such as the plant representation Dem Kirschbaum ähnlicher Essigbaumast (Staghorn Sumac Branch Similar to the Cherry Tree, bronze 2003), everyday observations are reinterpreted and placed in new contexts of meaning. Staghorn sumacs are pioneering plants that spread especially quickly in urban gaps (e.g. abandoned construction projects). The choice of material and the assertion that this staghorn sumac branch is similar to a cherry tree branch, which is much admired in circles of high culture, allows this plant, which is extremely interesting in my opinion, to appear in a new perspective. These are descriptions of only two exemplary works, on the basis of which I hope to clarify the coordinates of my/our investigations as mentioned above.
